Doc/DocX conversion new as of MOXIS version 4.54

Starting with MOXIS version 4.54, MOXIS offers the option to convert documents from .doc or .docX to PDF/A format. In this article, you will learn which settings are important and what you need to keep in mind so that your users can use the feature smoothly.

1. Configuring the feature

To enable the conversion of .doc and .docx formats in MOXIS for individual processes, open the corresponding process in the process management system in which your users will perform the conversion in the future.

XiTip
Please note that in order to convert PDFs to PDF/A format, the corresponding option must be activated in MOXIS Administration.

Then open the “Documents” tab and add the following MIME types under “Allowed MIME Types” (see figure 1 [1]):

  • .doc: application/msword

  • .docx: application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document

XiTip
From now on, it is possible to upload doc(X) formats. These are automatically converted to PDF/A format.

XiTip
Please note: Please inform the users of your MOXIS instance that .doc or .docX documents converted to PDF/A format should be checked, as there may be limitations in quality.

Embedded Excel tables may appear pixelated. One possible solution for this is to avoid using embedded objects.2. Auswirkungen auf das Protokoll

This setting affects the log in a similar way to converting PDFs to PDF/A format.

The log notes that a .doc or .docX format has been converted to PDF/A format (plus information about its standard).
